Electric kettles are the quickest and most efficient way to boil water fast. They can be used for all kinds of stuff in the kitchen, including making coffee, tea, and soup.

After a lot of use, the inside of your electric kettle may start to show a crusty, unpleasant-looking buildup. This buildup (called “scale”) can slow down the heating process and cause issues for your water quality as well.

When you try to scrub scale off of your kettle, you’ll find that it is extremely stubborn. For this reason, there are tons of commercial products on the market designed to help remove scale.

After the vinegar sits for at least 2-3 hours, turn the kettle on and bring it to a boil for about 3-4 minutes. This will cause the liquid to swirl as it boils, which agitates all the little particles scale and helps break them free from the kettle.

Boiling also speeds up some final reactions that need to take place and soften the last bits of hard scale. This will make surer than any big chunks of scale wash out with the swirling vinegar.

Wipe off the remaining hard water residue with a little of sodium bicarbonate on a damp rag. Mix about a teaspoon of baking soda into the water that you pour into the kettle.

Bring the solution to a boil and Allow it to soak in the kettle for about 20 minutes. Dilute it with water according to the instructions on the package, and boil the solution in your kettle.

In most cases, just like with any other method, you will let it sit for a while, and rinse it out with cold water when you’re done. Unwanted residue within your electric kettle can cause problems because it slows down the heating process.

It also leads to higher electricity consumption since your kettle is going to take longer to heat the water. If you don’t make an effort to clean your kettle regularly, this could lead to damage to the machine.

It’s also good to know a little more about how the rust and residue form, so that you can prevent its formation in the future and make sure that your electric kettle stays clean.
