Ms Guilfoyle, who is the girlfriend of Donald Trump's son Don Jr, spent many childhood summers in the County Clare town of Tennis, and her uncle James was approached by The Irish Independent for his opinion on the viral speech. While James declined to comment, a cousin of Ms Guilfoyle 's-- who asked not to be named-- told the outlet it was “all a bit ridiculous”.
“This quote from KimberlyGuilfoyle's cousin in Clare after her bizarre speech is proof that no matter how important your job is or who your is, your Irish relatives will knock the notions out of you.” The Republican National Convention entered its second day last night, with highlights including a speech from First Lady Melania Trump.
One of the speakers at the2020 Republican National Convention, here's everything you need to know about KimberlyGuilfoyle's Irish roots and more. From summers in her father's native Ireland to a major law career to San Francisco's first lady, here's everything you need to know about KimberlyGuilfoyle.
Her mother was a special education teacher and a major inspiration for young Kimberly. She was a warm woman who worked in education with people with emotional challenges.
Her father, Tony, immigrated to the US from Tennis, County Clare i n his 20s in 1957 and served for four years in the US army, from 1958 to 1962. Guilfoyle returned to her father's native town of Tennis every summer, working in her family’s local store.
I worked in the shop, which sold lovely china and Waterford Crystal. While there, she published research on international children's rights and European Economic Community law.
In that same 2015 Mediate interview to mark the publication of her book Making the Case, she explained her drive to become a prosecutor was inspired by the loss of her mother: “I became a prosecutor because I got my greatest joy in working with victims of violent crimes. I understood that profound sense of loss, and I could relate to it, and I wanted to do anything to help them heal by seeking justice.
She started out on Court TV and as a legal analyst for Anderson Cooper 360, and then moved to Fox in 2006 where she appeared regularly on shows such as The Lineup, The Five, and as a guest host on a number of other regular programs, until 2018. He was elected mayor in 2003, shortly before Guilfoyle left for her new job in New York.
They divorced in February 2006, citing the pressures of a bi-coastal relationship, but she was San Fran's first lady for two years. The local media there has enjoyed speculating about how surprising it is to see her involved with the Trump administration now, and how Newsom, now Lieutenant Governor of California, is one of its most outspoken critics.
Trump Jr and Guilfoyle went public with their relationship in late June 2018 when they appeared in Montana together as Trump was to speak at the state's Republican convention in support of Senate candidate Matt Glendale. We're going to take her fishing tomorrow, then shooting,” he told the crowd, according to Vanity Fair.
KimberlyGuilfoyle ’s combative speech at Monday’s Republican National Convention was so loud that her relatives in Ireland heard it. The Irish Independent said it reached out to the 51-year-old former Fox News host’s uncle James Guilfoyle in the Clare County town of Tennis, who didn’t want to comment.
Guilfoyle wished her Uncle James a happy retirement on her show “The Five” in 2016 when he stepped down from a print shop the family also ran. In her Monday screed from North Carolina, Guilfoyle bizarrely claimed her mom was an immigrant from Puerto Rico, which is part of the U.S.
“This quote from KimberlyGuilfoyle ’s cousin in Clare after her bizarre speech is proof that no matter how important your job is or who your (boyfriend) is, your Irish relatives will knock the notions out of you,” tweeted Lucy O’Shea. Irish media keeps a close eye on U.S. politics, though the people of the Emerald Isle aren’t always impressed these days.
Kim Guilfoyle ’s combative speech at Monday’s RNC convention was so loud, her relatives in Ireland heard it. “Over more than two centuries, the United States has stirred a very wide range of feelings in the rest of the world: love and hatred, fear and hope, envy and contempt, awe and anger,” he wrote.
With two Golden Globe nominations already under its belt for actresses Charlie Theron and Margot Robbie, “Bombshell,” released in Ireland on January 24, 2021, has hit the awards-season ground running. Yet while the incredible transformation of Charlie Theron into Megan Kelly has filled many column inches before the release, the wider female cast of the much-anticipated film is one to be reckoned with, including Kate MacKinnon and newcomer Free London as former Fox host and Roger Miles ally KimberlyGuilfoyle.
The current girlfriend of First Son Donald Trump Jr., Guilfoyle ’s star has only risen since her controversial departure from her role as presenter on The Five on Fox. Yet back in the days in which “Bombshell” is set, the daughter of an Irish immigrant was still a prominent figure at the cable news channel and one of the FOX employees who vehemently stood with CEO Roger Miles when he was accused of sexual assault by several female employees.
“She was such a controversial character and although I don't believe with all of her political beliefs and exactly what she stands for politically, she has a very strong character,” actress Free London told Irish Central ahead of Bombshell’s US release on December 13. One of the fortunate parts of playing a TV presenter and such a prominent media figure is that London had plenty of physical material to rely on when researching the role.
Having spent twelve years working for Fox, there were hours and hours of interviews and appearances to watch to get a feel for Guilfoyle ’s personality and mannerisms, aiding London to discover what it was that drove the former wife of a Democratic mayor who now represents a Republican government. “She wrote a book that I read, which was very interesting and gave me a lot of insight into how she thought,” added London.
And among these many interviews was plenty about her upbringing as the daughter of two immigrants, another factor that Guilfoyle claims shaped her. I worked in the shop, which sold lovely china and Waterford Crystal.
It instilled a sense of responsibility in me, putting in the hours and earning the money. “My late father Anthony Guilfoyle left Ireland in his twenties and went to work in America.
And the memory of her parents is one that Guilfoyle still keeps with her, the many interviews she gave about them leading the family-orientated persona that London felt from her. “She talks about it a lot, and especially in her book, how that completely changed her mindset growing up and seeing the father work so many jobs and become successful and do everything from the ground up,” London says of her.
When the trailer was first released, many were amazed at the outstanding comparison between Theron playing Megan Kelly but London also had fun in her Guilfoyle physical transformation. It was so fun to kind of literally step into her shoes every day,” London tells Irish Central.
Charlie Theron, Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie in “Bombshell.” Of course, playing a living person, especially one now thrust into the public eye so often due to her links with a White House constantly under the media spotlight, comes with its difficulties.

Guilfoyle's mother, Mercedes, taught special education.
Her father, Anthony “Tony” Guilfoyle, was born in Tennis, County Clare, Ireland, and immigrated to the United States in 1957 at the age of 20. In 1958, while still an Irish citizen, he was drafted and served for four years in the U.S. Army.
After being discharged from the army, Tony Guilfoyle took up work in the construction trades. He later became a real estate investor and, until his death in 2008, a close advisor to Mayor Newsom.
Guilfoyle then spent four years in Los Angeles as a deputy district attorney, working on adult and juvenile cases, including narcotics, domestic violence, kidnapping, robbery, arson, sexual assault, and homicide cases. She received several awards at the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office, including Prosecutor of the Month.
In 2000, Guilfoyle was re-hired by Tallinn in the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, where she served as an assistant district attorney from 2000 to 2004. During this time she achieved a conviction while co-prosecuting with James Hammer in the 2002 case People v. Noel and Knoll er, a second-degree murder trial involving a dog mauling that received international attention.
In mid-2017, Guilfoyle signed a long-term contract extension with Fox. A year later, in July 2018, Guilfoyle abruptly left Fox News; she then began working for a pro-Donald Trump super PAC.
The New Yorker subsequently corroborated reports that Guilfoyle had been forced to resign, rather than leaving by choice. After Guilfoyle's departure, Fox News agreed to an out-of-court settlement with an assistant who had accused Guilfoyle of sexual harassment.
Terms were not disclosed, but The New Yorker reported that the settlement was at least $4 million. The assistant alleged that Guilfoyle frequently displayed herself naked, showed photographs of the genitalia of men she had had sex with, and required her to sleep over at Guilfoyle's apartment.
The New Yorker independently verified several of the assistant's allegations. In 2015, Guilfoyle released a semi-autobiographical and advice book, titled Making the Case: How to Be Your Own Best Advocate, on her experiences growing up, working as a prosecutor, and encouraging people to always advocate for themselves.
Guilfoyle speaking at a campaign rally in Sun City, Arizona in November 2018 In December 2016, it was reported that Guilfoyle was being considered to serve as press secretary for President Donald Trump. Sean Spicer was considered the front-runner for the position and was ultimately selected.
On the May 12, 2017, edition of The Five, co-host Bob Becker hinted that Guilfoyle turned the job down. However, in an interview with Bay Area News Group on May 15, 2017, Guilfoyle confirmed she was in contact with the White House about the position following Spicer's resignation.
However, on May 19, Guilfoyle said she was under contract with Fox, indicating she turned down the White House. In 2018, The Washington Post described Guilfoyle as a “conservative cheerleader for President Trump”.
As of early 2020, the Trump campaign was paying Guilfoyle $15,000 per month through the campaign manager's private company, Par scale Strategy. Guilfoyle has been a surrogate on the stump and taken on broad advisory roles.
In the Trump 2020 campaign, Guilfoyle managed a fund-raising division. This division paid socialite Homers Parkas to raise money.
The fundraising division managed by Guilfoyle was in internal turmoil amid departures of experienced staff and accusations of irresponsible spending. In July 2020, Guilfoyle was diagnosed with COVID-19, but her boyfriend, Donald Trump Jr., tested negative.
In August 2020, at the Republican National Convention, Guilfoyle gave a speech that was widely described by some observers as unnecessarily loud or unhinged, though others in media described it as passionate. In January 2021, Guilfoyle joined President Trump, Donald Jr., Rudy Giuliani, Eric Trump and others on the Ellipse in Washington, D.C. to address the “Save America March”.
Guilfoyle also appeared in a video screened at the march by Donald Jr., “break into the hip-shaking dance she's been showcasing at other recent pro-Trump rallies” and “tell Trump fans: 'Have the courage to do the right thing! On May 27, 2006, in Barbados, Guilfoyle married furniture heir Eric Violence.
Guilfoyle gave birth to their son, Roman Anthony, on October 4, 2006. In June 2009, Guilfoyle and Violence announced that they were separating; their divorce was finalized later that year.
In June 2018, Vanessa Trump, who had filed for divorce three months earlier, confirmed that Guilfoyle was dating her husband, Donald Trump Jr. The divorce was finalized at the end of 2018. In mid-2019, Guilfoyle and Trump jointly purchased a $4.4 million home in The Hampton's.
