The card lets you quickly and easily purchase new, used, e-book, and audio titles right from your laptop or phone. For Audible users, an Amazon gift card could equal hours or even days of listening.
That means you can't use regular Amazon gift cards to make book purchases on the Audible platform. In order to buy an audiobook, you must purchase it with a Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or a Discover credit or debit card as no other methods, including PayPal, will be accepted.
If you don't have a login, Amazon will walk you through its standard checkout process, and you will be asked to input your valid credit or debit card information to buy the audio title. You can also simply select the “Buy for” option, which features the book's full list price, allowing you to use your credit card to purchase it without a subscription.
The Audible .com site has several options for purchasing a book, but all require payment through a debit or credit card. Audible offers 1, 3, 6, and 12 month gift memberships.
Recipients who are new to Audible have access to all member benefits for the duration of their gift and keep all purchased audiobooks permanently. For example, a 3-month gift membership to an existing member will add 3 credits to their account immediately.
For more information about listening to audiobooks on other devices or MP3 players, go to Audible Support. Browse Audible's selection or search for an audiobook that you'd like to purchase.
Purchase the audiobook: If you're not currently an Audible member: Select Start your free trial or Buy with 1-Click. If you buy the Audible edition with 1-Click, you will be charged the full price for the audiobook immediately.
Note: If you've previously enrolled in an Audible trial, you will have the option to Buy with membership. If you select this option, you will be charged the current membership fee.
After confirming your purchase details and billing address, your Amazon and Audible accounts will be linked and any audiobooks you've purchased from Audible will appear in Manage Your Content and Devices on Amazon. Amazon customers who aren’t Audible Premium or Amazon Prime members have access to channels for 30 minutes per week when using a compatible Audible app for iOS, Android, or Windows 10.
Books are a go-to gift for most of my friends and family, which is great. As an avid audiobook listener, sometimes I wish they knew how to gift an Audible book to me.
They keep the stacks from growing while making your “Read” list on Goo dreads even longer. Now you have an easy guide to throw at loved ones on how to gift an Audible book as well.
If you are purchasing for someone who already had an Audible account, this means you can give them 3, 6, or 12 additional credits to use. This is the only gifting option Audible offers at the time of the writing of this article.
You’ll get an option that looks legitimate but will only take you back to the Audible website instead of the Gift Center. The link above will take both members and non-members to the right place to purchase memberships for the audiophile in your life.
Not sure if your favorite book lover is ready for an Audible membership commitment? When you buy through these links, Book Riot may earn a commission.
With Google’s recent addition of audiobooks to the Google Play Store, both the Assistant in its Home smart speakers and Alexa in Amazon's Echo devices can read books to listeners. Google’s audiobooks are purchased by the listener while Alexa is linked to the Amazon -owned Audible subscription service.
For example, Ready Player One is $6.99 (regularly $22.50), Fire and Fury is $8.99 ($26.99), Stephen King’s It is $9.99 ($39.99) and Colson Whitehead’s The Underground Railroad is 14.95 ($20.00). Reading progress is synced across all devices except Android Auto in the US which will be added soon ”.
You can switch back and forth between the Assistant and the Google Play Books app because progress is synced across both devices. Google also has a Family Library that lets users share audiobooks, and once you buy a book, it’s yours forever.
Books can be purchased outright through Amazon ’s Audible at a 30% discount, but the program is designed to function primarily as a subscription service. Audible has two subscription plans, Gold and Platinum, and each can be purchased by the month or the year.
Readers of Kindle e-books can also listen to the Audible version for an additional cost through Amazon ’s Whisper sync. Like Google’s audiobooks, Audible lets the user increase reading speed, set a timer and listen to a preview.
Audible books can be shared with family members through the Amazon Household service. Of course, the unused credits roll over with Audible, but sooner or later you’re going to hit the rollover limit at which point you’ll be paying for nothing.
If you listen to one book a month every month, Audible ’s $14.95 Gold plan is likely to be cheaper than buying the audiobook from Google, although this will depend on both the price of the book and whether either service has it on sale. If you consistently listen to more than two audiobooks a month, go with Audible for the first two and either use a rolled-over credit or compare prices for purchasing the additional books.
If you listen regularly to audiobooks and want to pay the least for the pleasure, you’ll have to spend time checking prices on Audible and the Google Play Store every time you want to listen to a book. Do this with a couple of books and if listening to audiobooks becomes a regular part of your routine, check out Audible.
