If you don't receive a response within two business days, you can submit an A-to-z Guarantee claim. To make sure that you receive the correct refund, don't include items from multiple orders or shipments in the same box.
After completing the steps in the returns process, you'll receive a QR code. Bring the item you want to return and the digital QR code to the drop-off location.
Note: Before returning items on which you've saved personal information, such as laptops, cameras, or other electronic devices, erase this information completely. Delivery addresses in the 50 United States (U.S.) and APO/FPO addresses using a U.S. zip code are eligible for Free Returns.
Does anyone know if Amazon requires buyers to return an item in the original carton/packaging? So if the buyer doesn’t have the original carton returning the item is almost impossible.
It was 3rd party FBA, very large, multi packaged and required freight delivery. Rather than have me return it Amazon refunded me have the price I paid.
A buyer doesn’t need a UPC, we get a return slip that has the item’s barcode on it. I’ve returned baby clothes after they shrunk majorly in the wash- no UPC.
I think Amazon would try to offer a partial refund rather than pay return shipping costs. If the motor broke it would be going back, even if I had to tape trash bags around in.
For large freight like a chair Amazon would probably offer a partial refund but if the buyer wants to be made whole, they could just tape Kroger bags around it to return it. I have received plenty of “Unfulfillable returned inventory without boxes” Amazon just puts it in a poly-bag and ships it back to me.
Plus I suggest that you include in your bullets that to save money in case of return, buyers should hold on to the expensive custom shipping carton. I’m just trying to word it in such a way that reinforces the buyer is responsible for obtaining a shipper at their cost (and now they know it will be hard to find one, as well as expensive), while making you look like the good guy who really wants his customers to be happy.
“We're thrilled to offer this first-of-its-kind service to Amazon and Kohl's customers,” Gas said in a statement to USA TODAY. Kohl's announced in April the returns program would expand this summer after piloting it in 100 stores in Chicago, Los Angeles and Milwaukee markets.
Gas said the priority is to drive customer traffic, and millions are expected to benefit from the new service. New York-based Earnest Research found Chicago stores in the pilot appeared to benefit significantly from the partnership with Seattle-based Amazon.
There’s been a lot of confusion recently on how the return policy at Amazon actually works. After several phone calls and live chat sessions, here’s how their return policy currently works.
This is great because it allows you to start your Christmas shopping now, knowing that the gift recipient can return items up until the end of January. If items are fulfilled by Amazon, you typically won’t have to pay return shipping charges.
Your chances of success rise greatly if you’re a Prime member and order quite a bit every month. I was going to be charged return shipping until I started a live chat and then the operator gave it to me for free.
Amazon actually has a team that researches your returns and comes up with the specific dollar amount for policy “abusers”. If you cross this limit, Amazon will mark your account as “concession abuse”.
In other words, if you typically only contact Amazon for a refund or discount, and abuse their policy frequently, you’ll fall into this category. Once your account is marked “Concession Abuse”, no returns will be accepted on any orders made by you in the future.
Start by visiting the Gift Return Page and enter your order number which is the 17-digit code found on the packing slip. Next, follow the online prompts and you’ll get a free shipping label which you can print and attach to the box.
As long as your issue or problem with the product is genuine, there is NO limit on the number of returns you can make. You can return consumer electronics and computers to Amazon within 30 days of purchase.
Be aware that you may get hit with a restocking fee if the item is damaged due to misuse, missing parts, or unauthorized tampering. But it goes without saying that they track your return history and absolutely reserve the right to take action if they feel you’re abusing their policy.
If you order one of these non-returnable items and it arrives damaged or defective you should contact Amazon to get resolution to the problem. Typically, any purchases you make between November 1st and December 31st have an extended “Holiday” return period.
Personally, I’ve had it happen when I was sent something I didn’t order, but it can also take place if they send you too many of an item, or for any random reason…they’ll tell you to keep it or donate it to charity. Don't spend a single penny returning your unwanted Amazon package if you don't have to -- not even on gas.
Angela Lang/CNET Amazon has earned its reputation by making online shopping fast and easy, and package delivery free, but the same can't always be said about its return process. Although Amazon's plethora of return options does mean more choices when shipping back purchases, Amazon often presents only the default return method, making you dig for cheaper or more convenient ways to send your stuff back.
Amazon's preferred return service very well could be the most convenient for you, if, for example, you live near a Kohl's. But if a trip to Kohl's isn't on your itinerary any time soon, accidentally clicking that option -- or a different one -- can add an unnecessary errand to your list.

If you'd rather return items to Amazon the same way you ordered them -- without ever having to trek beyond your own front door -- here's the quick, easy and (oftentimes) free way to send stuff back.
If you're already a Kohl's shopper, it might be convenient to return Amazon purchases there. Bought by mistake : You accidentally hit Buy it Now or forgot to delete an item from your cart before checking out.
Item defective or doesn't work : Could be that it's broken or simply doesn't do what it's designed to do (for example, a can opener that spins up but doesn't cut the lid off). Whichever way you go, though, you'll still need to decide exactly how you want to send the item back.
To get to the UPS Pickup option, which is the only way to return items without leaving home, you'll have to scroll down and possibly even click on a link that reads something like 2 other return options. Tap or click UPS Pickup then select Confirm Your Return.
Follow whatever instructions Amazon gives you, which will probably just be to print out a packing slip and place it in the package with your return. Tape up the box good and tight -- and even tape over the return label so it won't get damaged -- then put the package near your front door so you don't forget to set it out on the next business day.
