Because chargebacks through Amazon do not provide a reason why the customer disputes a transaction through their financial institution. I do understand the issue and concerns of A-Z claims and frankly in A-Z La La Land anything goes but a chargeback is a different matter, and I am pointing that out because I worked in a chargeback dept for quite a few years; granted it has been a while and policies change dramatically.
I had a shipment once the customer paid a total of $72 in shipping…actual shipping was about $30… I refunded them $18, and they were very pleased, as they had not asked for it. If you had AZ claim for this reason, then Amazon would find it in favor of the buyer, because even if you would show communication with buyer, it would mean nothing to CC and AZ claims are always looked at from the point of view of CC.
Amazon would probably note buyers behavior which will not help you any way on those combined orders. And yes, for CC, you can only ship to billing address and only signature confirmation is proved of delivery.
However, one single residential address can only handle so much, and they can not always say they did not get the shipment, so they get creative and use other ways that looks more legit for everyone involved, in this case it would be Amazon and CC. I am also very thankful to Amazon for their AZ program, because sometimes they would take responsibility for their abusive buyer and will cover the chargeback, problems, etc., but on your own site, you just deal with all fraud by your self and there is no AZ to back you up.
Amazon allows customers to ship to friends, family, etc, and even if seller provides signature confirmation, but buyer requested shipping to another address than billing address, then CC will chargeback this payment if customer states none delivery. Amazon would most likely back up seller who used signature confirmation in this case and will take the loss them self.
This deserves a huge Appreciation to Amazon, because on you own site, you would lose even with all the signature and insurance services in this case. Just make sure that when you confirm shipment of the other items, that you paste in the tracking number.
If you dealt with credit card chargeback for this reason, you would lose it all for other orders. Credit cards looks at transactions, not invoices that you include with one box for multiple orders.
Many people use this as a way to claim charge backs with hope that seller/company will combine multiple orders in one box to save on shipping for them selves. We have seen so many scenarios already, that we always avoid this and ship each individual order with its own tracking.
Credit card companies cares less if you have one tracking for multiple transactions. But each individual order must have its own tracking in case it must be verified with CC later when customer states they only got one shipment.
We had been doing this for so many years and had situations when customer would ask ship together two orders, one lets say for $20 and another one for $200. We learned a lot in so many years and still learning…therefore, this would be a mistake to ship multiple orders in one box.
A few years ago a customer placed two orders for an identical item. If Amazon isn’t worried about shipping multiple orders together, I wouldn’t be either.
Therefore, when Amazon combines Prime orders in one shipment, they know very well you are established customer who does not constantly claims none receipt of goods and you have excellent rating as a buyer with no potential to scam the system. However, you don’t know if they do the same for those buyers who are completely new, and/or have records of such claims.
We buy from Amazon anything you can imagine and of course use prime, and whenever we forgot to add something to the cart and then place another order same day, these items also comes together. Amazon can take more risks than all of us combined because again, their system works for their benefit to spot and stop what they think is not legit.
Therefore, we as company take precaution measures based on mistakes we already learned in so many years being in business. And trust me, people get so creative that it is just impossible to know everything in advance no matter how you try to protect yourself.
We just shared our Experience with Real situation that anyone can face any time, because this is simply how it works not just theoretically, but practically. This Amazon seller then had the detergent shipped directly from Sam’s Club to Belong’s home.
It isn’t new, but it has become more popular as big shopping destinations like Amazon onboard more individual sellers, and software tools pop up to automate the activity. “I feel a bit cheated, which I don’t love,” Belong, who places several Amazon orders a week, told Decode in an interview.
Those sellers who fail to comply with this rule can have their selling privileges suspended or revoked, it said. The Amazon seller Belong bought from, called “Order Me,” claimed ignorance in a message to Decode.
Another San Francisco resident, Ariel Bryant, had the same reaction as Belong when a delivery recently showed up in a Walmart box. Bryant, a longtime friend of mine who first alerted me to the activity, said she takes responsibility for not comparing prices before hitting the Buy button on Amazon.

If you’re an avid online shopper and a fully paid-up Prime member, then Amazon Day may well be the feature you’ve been holding out for. Instead, it’s a new delivery option giving regular Amazon shoppers the chance to choose a specific day of the week for all of their items to be delivered.
For customers, it could be a real boon, especially for regular Amazon shoppers who are wary of porch pirates and therefore want to be home to receive multiple items at once. And for the environment, the benefits include cutting down on waste if several items can be packaged together, with the number of delivery trips also reduced.
