Some items can't be wrapped because of their unusual size, weight, or shape. If available, you can select Ship in Amazon box on the checkout page so that the contents aren't revealed.

Purchased gift items don't affect the recommendations we give you. Items you order from a registry or List are marked as purchased so the recipient doesn't receive a duplicate gift.

“The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.” AFAIK selecting the 'is this a gift' type or similarly worded option only removes the price. This is understandable as removing all details inc the senders details could untold issues if items were sent maliciously (think sex toys to an ex) as a random but possible scenario.

I plan on doing this at the start of each month so will just need to slightly increase my donations to make up for the loss of prime delivery is all. The only thing stopping people from returning stuff they got as a gift which they do not like is a shame. Luckily, on Amazon, there is no guilt because you can return the gift without the sender ever finding out.

Amazon is an online marketplace, meaning that every return goes through shipping companies or the post office. You should not return too many products in a short time span however, because Amazon can decide to ban you from using their services.

You have 30 days to get a full refund on products that do not fit the description, are damaged or otherwise defective. Other products usually require you to pay for shipping or restocking, i.e. the reason you returned them is that you do not like or want them.

Amazon offers full return benefits exclusively for orders which are fulfilled by them. Many third-party sellers use Amazon and these benefits do not apply to returning products purchased from them.

You need the order ID or, if you do not have it, you need the sender ’s info (e.g. their name, phone number, the email they use for Amazon). The order ID can be found in the top left corner of the packaging slip you got with the gift.

In other words, you will have to contact the sender and admit to returning their gift. They can also find it under “your orders” on their Amazon account if they lost the slip.

If the purchase was made through a third party seller you will need to submit a return request. If the seller on Amazon does not approve your return request, the gift sender will have to file an A-to-Z guarantee claim.

On Amazon you can actually avoid this situation and replace the gift, leaving the sender blissfully oblivious. You can send items as gifts when they're fulfilled by Amazon or from selected Merchants.

The recipient will also be able to use the packing slip to return an item if necessary. Some items can't be wrapped because of their unusual size, weight or shape.

If available for the item, you may mark “Ship in Amazon box” on the checkout page if you don't want to reveal the contents. If that option is selected the item will be dispatched in an Amazon .co.UK box at no additional cost.

Purchased gift items won't affect the recommendations we give you, and items you order from a Wish List will be marked as purchased so the recipient doesn't receive a duplicate gift. You may not know this yet, but your Amazon account’s entire purchasing history is recorded, and all activity is likewise tracked on the retail giant’s site.

While this is great for reviewing past orders and checking receipts, there may be times when you want to hide purchased items. Most of the time, you don’t want to reveal spoilers for gifts you’ve bought loved ones.

So here are a few tips to help you hide your activity on Amazon and even have your items delivered to an address other than your home. If you have an Echo device, Alexa can automatically tell you delivery updates for items you order.

To keep the element of surprise for your holiday orders, follow these steps to disable the feature in the Alexa app: Up to four child profiles (used for Amazon ’s service for kids called Freebie).

If you’re sharing the same Amazon account with another family member, there are still ways to hide purchases and searches to avoid potentially heartbreaking gift spoilers. To avoid revealing your gift ideas to the entire household, you can remove items from your browsing history.

You can also click Browsing History, find the item you want to hide, and choose Remove from view. Another source for potential gift spoilers is Amazon ’s Recommended List.

You can ship an item to an Amazon Locker of your choice and then pick it up at a time that’s convenient for you. Now, each time you purchase an item, you can select your Locker as the shipping address.

Once an item has been delivered to the Locker, Amazon will email you the unique six-digit code you’ll need to retrieve it. Note : Although most items can be shipped to Amazon Lockers, there are still size and weight restrictions.

As an Amazon Associate, we earn a small commission from qualifying purchases. This was the question posed by Consumerist reader Bobby, who didn’t realize until after the box was opened that one of the Amazon packages they received this week was actually intended for someone who had previously lived at their address.

However, this expanded FAQ from the FTC on this very subject deals with the issue of honest shipping errors, which appears to be the case in Bobby’s situation. “Give the seller a specific and reasonable amount of time (say 30 days) to pick up the merchandise or arrange to have it returned at no expense to you,” reads the FAQ.

“Tell the seller that you reserve the right to keep the merchandise or dispose of it after the specified time has passed.” It never even got to that point in Bobby’s dealings with Amazon, as the company simply said to keep the unordered merch. Then last year, there was the Consumerist reader who found themselves the beneficiary of Walmart’s shipping department when their iPhone order included three additional Apple devices.

As holiday shopping season ramps up, Amazon is announcing a new way to send a gift card to friends: Facebook. Now on the gift card platform, you can choose to log-in to Facebook via Facebook Connect, which will allow Amazon to access your friends’ names and birthdays, and post the gift card to your friend’s Wall on the delivery date (Amazon says that user data and purchase history will remain private).

Senders can schedule the gift card to appear on the recipient’s Facebook Wall up to a year in advance. A few months ago, Amazon rolled out a new social feature that allows users to receive recommendations based on information in your Facebook profile and friends preferences.
