Amazon is not responsible for, and assumes no liability to you for, any unlawful conduct or fraud by any third party associated with any Gift Card. Use of Amazon .com Balance or any Gift Card in Violation of these Terms and Conditions.
By using a Gift Card you agree to comply with these terms and conditions, and not to use a Gift Card in any manner that is misleading, deceptive, unfair, or otherwise harmful to Amazon .com, its affiliates, or its customers. We reserve the right, without notice to you, to void Gift Cards (including as a component of your Amazon .com Balance) without a refund, suspend or terminate customer accounts, suspend or terminate the ability to use our services, cancel or limit orders, and bill alternative forms of payment if we suspect that a Gift Card is obtained, used, or applied to an Amazon .com account (or your Amazon .com Balance is applied to a purchase) fraudulently, unlawfully, or otherwise in violation of these terms and conditions.
TO THE FULL EXTENT PERMISSIBLE BY LAW, WE MAKE NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WITH RESPECT TO GIFT CARDS OR YOUR AMAZON .COM BALANCE, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. However, an arbitrator can award on an individual basis the same damages and relief as a court (including injunctive and declaratory relief or statutory damages), and must follow these terms and conditions as a court would.
To begin an arbitration proceeding, you must send a letter requesting arbitration and describing your claim to our registered agent: Corporation Service Company, 300 Descartes Way SW, Suite 304, Tum water, WA 98501. Payment of all filing, administration and arbitrator fees will be governed by the AAA's rules.
You may choose to have the arbitration conducted by telephone, based on written submissions, or in person at a mutually agreed location. We and you agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated or representative action.
If for any reason a claim proceeds in court rather than in arbitration we each waive any right to a jury trial. We and you also agree that you or we may bring suit in court to enjoin infringement or other misuse of intellectual property rights.
We reserve the right to require additional verification of your identity, Gift Card or account ownership, or provision of an additional payment instrument, before you are able to apply a Gift Card to your account or your Amazon .com Balance to a purchase. When you purchase, receive, or apply a Gift Card to your account, or your Amazon .com Balance to a purchase, you agree that the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to principles of conflict of laws, will govern these terms and conditions and any dispute that may arise between you and ACI Gift Cards LLC, and its affiliates related to your use of a Gift Card or your Amazon .com Balance.
The portion of your Amazon .com Balance made up of Gift Cards issued after October 1, 2005, does not expire and may be applied to your Amazon .com account and applied to eligible purchases despite any stated expiration date. Expiration dates also do not apply for the portion of your Amazon .com Balance made up of any Gift Cards issued prior to October 1, 2005, in CA, CT, LA, ME, MD, MA, MT, NH, ND, OK, RI, VT, WA, or in any other jurisdiction solely to the extent prohibited or limited by law.
Your barcode is linked to your Amazon .ca Balance and your funds are immediately available for use. Save or print your barcode prior to visiting a participating store.
Phone number : Tell the cashier your phone number and pay any amount between CDN 5 and CDN 500 to add to your Amazon Balance. If you have already verified your phone number, the transaction will be immediately reflected in your Amazon .ca Balance.
If it is an unverified number, check your receipt for an Amazon .ca Gift Card Claim Code that can be redeemed at WWW. If you don’t have a claim code on your receipt, you can verify your phone number here.
We created Amazon Cash because we want to serve all customers, including those who prefer not to use debit or credit cards to shop. You can make an Amazon Cash transaction at any participating store.
6) Can I make an Amazon Cash transaction using a debit or credit card? If using a barcode or a verified phone number, funds are available immediately after the cashier hands you a receipt for your transaction.
We will send a confirmation notification to the email address or phone number registered to the account. At any time, you can also view your Amazon Balance activity under Your Account.
Mobile phone or Tablet : In the Amazon App, go to Your Account then click on “Manage gift card balance” in the Amazon Wallet section. Once payment occurs in store, make sure you receive a receipt for the Amazon Cash transaction from the cashier.
If your Amazon Cash transaction is not listed on the receipt, please work with the store’s customer service to troubleshoot. If you have a receipt confirming the transaction, but funds have not been loaded into your account within 15 minutes of payment, please check your balance activity on Amazon .ca.
Your barcode is linked to your account and can be used every time you want to add Amazon Cash. If your barcode is not scanning, please make sure your phone’s brightness is set to the highest value and then retry.
If you are still having issues with the barcode being scanned, we suggest using our Print-at-Home option which you can access by visiting WWW. Here you will be given an option to print your barcode which can be brought into the store for scanning.
Additionally, many stores will have the option to add Amazon Cash via your phone number or using a claim code. To use, visit a participating store, provide your phone number to the cashier or kiosk and specify the amount you want to add.
If your phone number is unverified, some stores will provide you a printed receipt with an Amazon .ca Gift Card Claim Code. To verify your phone number, login to Your Account, and click on “Login and security”, then click on “Add” next to “Mobile Phone Number”, you will be prompted to select a country code from a drop down menu and enter your phone number.
Enter the code to confirm that you are in possession of the mobile phone number you are linking to your account. Once this is complete, your mobile phone number will be linked to your account and you can complete Amazon Cash transactions using that phone number.
From the Amazon Cash home page click on the “Confirm your phone number” button. Amazon .ca Gift Cards never expire and carry no fees.

To help clear things up, we’ve gone over these two examples where your gift card can expire. Question: I won a gift card as a prize that entitled me to a free tub of ice cream.
Question: I went to a silent auction for a charity and bought a gift card that was donated by a restaurant about a year ago. Answer: In this situation, because the gift card was sold for a charitable purpose, it is allowed to expire.
We are responsible for regulating specific industries and certain consumer transactions in British Columbia. Depending on your concern, another organization may be the ones to speak to; other times, court or legal assistance may be the best option.
In 2009, President Obama signed the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act (a.k.a. This law, which mostly deals with consumer protection from credit card companies, also included new rules for gift cards.
The law states that a gift card or general purpose prepaid card may not expire any earlier than five years from the date of activation (or the date when funds were last added to the card) and that if there is an expiration, the terms and conditions of that expiration must be clearly disclosed prior to purchase. Once the gift card law went into effect, companies complied and, in many cases, just eliminated expiration dates altogether.
Several states also subsequently passed even stricter state-level gift card laws that made expiration dates illegal. If you don’t find it, chances are good the card will be valid as long as the store remains solvent.
(If the store goes into Chapter 11 bankruptcy, then the gift card may be impacted for a different reason. Though I’m speaking generally here, it’s a good idea to check the terms and conditions for your card to see if the expiration date applies to your situation.
Use any remaining value quickly to stop further inactivity fees from being charged. If you receive a gift card without paying for it (e.g. cable company sends you a gift card as a thank you for switching services), pay close attention to the terms because those gift cards can (and often do) expire very quickly.
The next time you go to the store, pay with the promotional gift card. As previously mentioned, many states passed gift card laws as well.
