To remove rust from your weights, there are homemade products like vinegar. Another effective and homemade product is the Coca-Cola drink because it contains enough phosphoric acid, perfect for removing rust.

You can do the same operation as with the vinegar, and you will see how the rust when brushing the metal, comes out perfectly. Mix it with a little of water creating a paste and let it spend the whole night so that the oxide is released.

This means that, when your weights are in direct contact with the air, a certain amount of oxygen combines with said metal. This is because humidity acts as a catalyst for the oxidation reaction, speeding up and enhancing the process.

Cables may be different, newer/better equipment = tougher pulley's etc. You can walk outside and hear all kinds of talk, get told that you're a god or a total bastard.

Cables may be different, newer/better equipment = tougher pulley's etc. Yeah, I know that small differences like 3 lbs from the labelled weight are normal... but this was just insane, normally I Incline press 115s for 6, now I could only flat bench 105s for 5.

Possible dumbbells are fat bar type, thus reducing your strength because your forearms has to work harder to maintain grip. Registered User I find this with the local gym.

I have literally tried weighing the barbell as it has to be ~5# heavier than a standard 45#. Registered User no not really only time i ever really felt a difference was when I thought a 35 barbell was a 45 barbell and I thought I was 10 lbs stronger LOL.

Hahaha I know what you mean, ill dumbbell bench press 100 lb's at one gym...go to another and those 100's feel like 115's/120's! I mean they're WEIGHTS, their only job is to weigh the amount of weight labelled on them or at least very close, and yet somehow some of them don't even meet that goal.

Most likely this db's were 100lbs of plate weight, and they didn't include the bar. It can scare the new members a little when they are suddenly way weaker than before Yeah, but the bar weighs around 5 lbs, whereas I was using 10-15 lbs lighter dumbbells than I usually do.

I agree man, I usually always lift at the same gym. The only reason I lifted at that gym was because I was away from home for a few days.... it's about an hour away from where I live.

Olympic weights are VERY accurate and if you're lifting in a comp YOU BETTER BELIEVE that absolutely no funny business whatsoever goes on when it comes to lifting and having accurate weights /plates. Here's how accurate the tolerance is: on a 45 pound plate (20 kg), the difference is as slight as the weight of 3 dimes (pass) as opposed to 3 quarters (fail).

I once bought a bunch of cheap Chinese weights (10 pound Only plates). I took them to work and weighed each one on a digital postal scale, and what I found upset me greatly.
