And the way is now clear, not just for Republicans in the House to join Democrats in impeaching Mr Trump, but potentially for the Senate to convict him. Early data in Israel has indicated that coronavirus vaccines can significantly reduce infection rates in patients after they receive the first jab, in the first sign that the Jewish state’s world-class inoculations drive is effective.

According to Israeli broadcaster Channel 12, initial research by healthcare provider MacCaig said the first dose of the vaccine reduced the risk of catching coronavirus by 60 per cent after 14 days. A separate study by Claim, another Israel healthcare provider, put the figure somewhat lower at 33 per cent after testing 200,000 elderly vaccinated citizens.

“The graphs diverge on day 14 with a 33 per cent decline among the vaccinated elderly, without a similar trend among the unvaccinated,” Ran Alice, the founding director of the Claim Research Institute, said in a statement to the Telegraph. “Peer reviewed manuscripts with more elaborate study design are underway and will shed more light on this topic,” he added.

Upon landing in Washington, passengers aboard an American Airlines flight from Charlotte, North Carolina, applauded when police removed a woman who was filmed getting angry when asked to wear a mask onboard. Footage from Emir Taxi shows the woman, wearing the mask below her nose and mouth, shouting aboard the plane. Taxi posted additional footage showing police escorting the woman from the plane, as the surrounding passengers clap. In a statement to Scornful, American Airlines confirmed the incident, writing: “The flight crew on board American flight 2198 reported a customer disturbance while en route from Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).

Following multiple requests to comply with mandatory face covering requirements, one passenger stood up and began yelling at flight attendants and surrounding customers. The aircraft landed without further incident and was met on arrival by Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police.” The woman has been placed on an internal refuse list pending further investigation, the statement said.

It comes as Sadie Khan, the Mayor of London, issued a list of demands to the Government asking for tighter restrictions in the capital.

Mr Khan has asked for Boris Johnson to make face masks compulsory outdoors, accelerate the roll-out of vaccines in London, and provide better financial support for those who are isolating and unable to work. Questions surrounding the vaccine in Australia, which recorded just one new local case of the coronavirus on Wednesday, have cast a cloud over its immunization plans, with 53 million doses of the AstraZeneca jab already on order.

Experts cited data showing the AstraZeneca jab had 62% efficacy compared with over 90% for a vaccine developed by Pfizer and its partner Biotech. Supermarket chains Tesco, Morrison's, Sainsbury’s, Asia and Wait rose will all ban shoppers who refuse to wear face coverings.

A sonic boom is created when an object moves through air faster than the speed of sound, 767mph, which the jet first surpassed near Peterborough.

Amazon .com Inc. is experimenting with a new program that pays independent contractors to fetch groceries from shelves in Whole Foods stores and deliver them in their own vehicles. The move may reduce the online retail giant’s reliance on employees who are eligible for medical insurance, sick pay and other benefits.

These people currently drive groceries to customers’ homes, while the products are gathered and bagged in stores by Amazon employees earning at least $15 an hour. It also gives the company flexibility to adjust to spikes in demand since it can summon more Flex drivers for individual jobs quicker than it can hire and train new employees.

Use of ride-hailing apps such as Uber and Lyft is down, which has pushed many drivers to seek work delivering online orders from stores and restaurants. While the new program appears to be partly designed to limit full-time employees, Amazon also announced plans on Monday to hire 100,000 workers to meet a surge in online shopping tied to the pandemic.

The focus of the program was to make it easier to stock up on everyday products that would otherwise be bulky or expensive to ship, like bottled water, paper goods, flour, canned food items, boxes of cereal, and more. Orders below that $40 limit (or for customers, Prime or otherwise, who hadn’t subscribed to Pantry), would instead be charged a flat $7.99 fee.

And the company still offers its Fresh and Whole Foods' delivery service for Amazon Prime members (having previously removed the $15 per month subscription fee for that in 2019) that provides grocery delivery in over 2,000 cities in the United States. GroceryDelivery From Whole Foods Market Expands To Chattanooga and Knoxville, Tenn., Destiny and Tallahassee, Fla., Greensboro and Wilmington, N.C., Allentown, Pa., Fort Collins, Colo., Huntsville and Montgomery, Ala., Jackson, Miss., Palm Desert, Calif., and Portland, Maine.

Prime members can shop thousands of items across fresh and organic produce, bakery, dairy, meat and seafood, floral and everyday staples from Whole Foods Market available for delivery. Select alcohol is also available for delivery to customers in Destiny and Tallahassee, Fla., Greensboro and Wilmington, N.C. and Palm Desert, Calif.

Prime members shopping Whole Foods Market now save more than ever before at Whole Foods Market with exclusive weekly Prime Member deals and discounts, available year-round, on select popular products, plus an additional 10 percent off hundreds of sale items. Amazon is guided by four principles: customer obsession rather than competitor focus, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking.

That means that grocery delivery on a wide selection of fresh goods like meat and produce is now just another Prime perk, alongside one-day delivery on regular merchandise and free movie and music streaming. With the move, Amazon is positioning itself as an even fiercer competitor to Instacart, Walmart, and several regional delivery services that are all competing to bring more of the $800 billion US grocery market online.

And it raises the question of how Amazon is capable of cutting the monthly fee in a notoriously difficult business plagued by thin profit margins. The AmazonFresh delivery service launched more than a decade ago in the company’s hometown of Seattle, but it didn’t expand to a new market for five years as Amazon struggled to find an economic model that scaled.

According to June data from Second Measure, AmazonFresh already has at least 20 percent of the online grocery market share in major cities like New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. It could also impact Walmart, which announced a $98-a-year grocery delivery service in September meant to complement the retail giant’s already successful order-online, pickup-in-store grocery business.

Making Fresh free for Prime members essentially removes customers’ barrier to entry for the service. Every day at Vox, we aim to answer your most important questions and provide you, and our audience around the world, with information that empowers you through understanding.

Once the opener is linked to a customer’s account, they can select “FREE In-Garage Delivery when checking out from Amazon and be notified when their package is delivered.

“Customers tell us they appreciate the convenience and peace of mind that in-garage delivery offers, and we’re happy to expand the service to thousands of additional cities,” Pete Hershberger, head of Key by Amazon, said in a statement. Cartersville, Greenville, Weatherford, Venus, and Palmer are among the North Texas cities where the in-garage delivery system will be available, per a statement.

The delivery service is also available in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Houston, and other cities. “With this latest expansion, Amazon customers in thousands of big cities and small towns across the U.S. can now enjoy another Prime benefit with convenient, contactless deliveries right in their garage, all backed by the Key by Amazon Happiness Guarantee,” Hershberger said.

The new service will be available in select DFW cities including Richardson, Denton, Irving, and Grapevine. According to a statement, the service will only be an option in areas of Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle until it expands later on.
